Stud Welding System for Tags

  • Manual tag attaching system attaches tags in a fraction of a second
  • Allows for easy attachment of tags to products such as rebar, structural steel, and billets
  • Simple and economical to operate

Hand-held capacitor discharge stud welding system utilizes arc welding to attach a stud to bare metal surfaces. This fast, low-heat welding process allows a tag to be permanently fastened to the end of metal products such as rebar or billets. The system consists of a power source, tuning coil for added weld strength, and a welding gun.

Stud tip is placed in contact with the workpiece. Electric arc is initiated. Ignited arc creates a thin fusion
zone on stud and workpiece .
Stud is forced into the molten pool.
Material solidifies and stud is welded.

Stud Types

Threaded studs are attached to the product, then the tag is placed on the stud with a washer on top to hold the tag(s) in place. Also available are collared studs, which eliminate the need for a washer.
