Automatic Tag Attaching System
- Fully automated system uses a robot to weld tags onto hot metals
- No need for an operator at the marking station
- Designed to operate in hot, dirty mill environments
The STS2008 tag attaching system attaches identification tags to billets, blooms, and slabs in the casting area immediately after cutting. The tags can be read with the naked eye and scanned with a bar code reader. This unique feature guarantees fail-safe tracking of production and makes the STS2008 the most modern and advanced marking system available for today’s mill. Tags are printed by a laser tag printer and then manipulated by a robot, which places them on the surface of the product and attaches them to it. The attaching is done by MIG welding.
The normal width of the tag is 4” (100mm), whereas the length can vary as needed. The tags tolerate temperatures up to 1800°F (1000°C) and are perfectly legible, including the bar code, after cooling and long exposure to the elements.
